JustTryToBeat.Me is committed to protecting the privacy of children under 13 years of age in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).

Overview

JustTryToBeat.Me allows sponsors (parents, coaches, teachers) to create structured challenges for participants. When a participant is a child under 13, they are designated as a "Protected Participant" with additional privacy safeguards. Protected Participants have minimal accounts that collect no personally identifiable information (PII).

Data We Collect from Protected Participants

For Protected Participants (children under 13), we collect only the following data:

• A sponsor-chosen nickname (not the child's real name)
• Device registration identifiers (for authenticated device access)
• Check-in data (boolean, numeric, or text responses submitted during challenges)
• Challenge participation records (which challenges they are enrolled in)

Data We Do Not Collect from Protected Participants

We explicitly do not collect the following from Protected Participants:

• Email addresses
• Real names or legal names
• Photographs, videos, or audio recordings
• Geolocation data
• Social media profiles or external account information

Parental Consent Mechanism

Access to the platform for Protected Participants is managed entirely by their sponsor (parent, legal guardian, or authorized adult). The sponsor creates the protected account and provides the child with an access code. This access-code creation process constitutes verifiable parental consent as defined by COPPA.

Sponsors can revoke access at any time by deactivating the access code or removing the participant from all challenges. The sponsor retains full control over the child's participation and data.

Requesting Deletion of a Child's Data

Sponsors (parents or guardians) can request deletion of a Protected Participant's data at any time by contacting us at https://support.justtrytobeat.me. Upon verification, we will delete all data associated with the Protected Participant's account within 30 days.
